It’s the time of the year again! The 2nd edition of Art Basel Hong Kong has launched at the Hong Kong Convention & Exhibition Centre in Wanchai. The fair will be opened until this Sunday (May 18th). This year, in collaboration with the Hong Kong Arts Centre, Art Basel is introducing a new Film sector, with screenings that will be launched at the agnès b. CINEMA. It will be an innovative 3-day program curated by Li Zhenhua.
Some interesting works at the Encounters sector (From images 2-4):
Image 2: A highlight of the sector is Gu Wenda's United Nations installation, which consists of numerous flags from different countries hanging from the ceiling. The artist’s usage of material (human hair) for his work is a recognition of his bold experimental perceptions in art.
Image 3: Miyanaga Aiko presents Letter (Hong Kong), featuring a mixture of transparent suitcases and parcels, each filled with different contents and labelled to various locations.
Image 4: Ping Pong Go-Round, is a unique circular ping pong table designed by Lee Wen. Along with the installation is a video of participants in the public enjoying the game. Visitors at the fair can also enjoy a game at the table.
Image 5: An installation entitled: Rem(a)inders, presented by Michelangelo Psitoletto, at the Galleria Continua booth.
